ULP Biotech Experience is a 3-hour program providing students with experiential career exploration of pharmaceutical, life sciences, and MedTech industries. Students will engage in an interactive career talk with industry professionals, guided career discovery exercises, and explore available biotech internships and educational programs. The learning process will continue as students enhance their comprehension of STEM careers through hands-on laboratory activities, performing common laboratory techniques in ULP’s state-of-the-art research and development laboratory.

Program Experience

Activity 1: Career Talk
Students will have an opportunity to directly interact with career professionals through Q&A and guided exercises and learn how to search for and apply to biotech internships and educational programs to enhance their skill sets.

Activity 2: Laboratory Experience: Students will be exposed to industry standard laboratory techniques including laboratory safety, micro pipetting, cell culturing, and aseptic techniques. Students will use these techniques to isolate DNA from a mammalian cell and perform DNA visualization and quantification.
