Juan is Director, Early Innovation Partnering at Johnson & Johnson Innovation, California. In this role, he focuses on pharmaceutical innovation in support of the neuroscience and discovery and product development & supply businesses. His charge is to identify licensing, collaboration, and investment opportunities highly aligned with Johnson & Johnson business strategies by building relationships with entrepreneurs, venture investors, and key opinion leaders. Previously, Juan was Investor and Board Observer at Action Potential Venture Capital where he led sourcing, research, and due diligence in bioelectronic therapeutic technologies. Juan has also held various roles in venture capital and management consulting, as well as key operational roles including Business Development Manager at Ultragenyx Pharmaceuticals. Juan is a proud mentor to underrepresented students and professionals in STEM-related fields and is a board member for the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley. Juan completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University, where he focused on neuroscience, molecular biology, and genetics. Juan earned his B.S in Neuroscience and Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the University of California Los Angeles, and his M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
