Sentiré Medical Systems

Sentiré Medical Systems is a Santa Fe, New Mexico medtech startup developing Perf-Alert®, a patented, non-invasive intraoperative monitoring system that alerts surgeons to inadvertent bowel perforations during laparoscopic and robotic procedures. Bowel injuries during minimally invasive surgery frequently go unrecognized in the OR, leading to readmissions, reoperations, extended ICU stays, and mortality above 5%. The company's SENSai gas-sensing platform continuously samples and analyzes chemical signals from the surgical field using photonics- and spectroscopy-based sensing, adding a layer of chemical awareness to feedback surgeons otherwise get only visually and mechanically — and it integrates into existing laparoscopic and robotic workflows without changing tools or technique, enabling immediate intraoperative repair. The technology was clinically tested in an eight-patient Stanford study published in Surgical Endoscopy, and the company has since won NSF SBIR and Phase II STTR awards (the latter with the University of New Mexico), a New Mexico Economic Development science and technology grant, a Los Alamos National Laboratory collaboration, NVIDIA Inception membership, and a spot in University Lab Partners' 2026 REALIZE accelerator cohort.
