JPTechnologies is a California medical device company (founded 2010) developing a wireless incontinence monitoring system for real-time patient care. The product is a sensor-embedded brief: sensors integrated with LC circuitry detect and classify incontinence events — urinary, fecal, or combined — as they occur, transmitting data wirelessly so caregivers are alerted the moment a patient needs changing rather than relying on fixed check schedules. The clinical rationale is preventing the downstream harms of delayed response, including incontinence-associated dermatitis and pressure ulcers, and reducing avoidable hospitalizations. Intended users are caregivers and healthcare facilities managing multiple incontinent patients, particularly among elderly, ill, and pediatric populations. The company grew out of a nanotechnology chemical-sensing firm and has been supported primarily by non-dilutive federal funding — roughly $1.6M in SBIR awards across two Phase I grants and an NIH Phase II — and is currently recruiting participants for clinical trials rather than selling at scale. It is led by co-founder Nicholas Prokopuk, with electrical engineer Russell Barber.
