Marie Rippen is a proud graduate of CSU Long Beach, earning a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to earn a PhD at the University of Southern California in Genetic, Molecular, and Cell Biology in 2015. Her work focused on developmental and stem cell biology.
While at USC, Marie assisted in lab management and interned with the public relations departments of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and USC Stem Cell. These skills translated to her first position at Lab Launch, Facility Director of LabLaunch-Monrovia. Three years later, she is now the CEO of Lab Launch Inc., a non-profit dedicated to providing Southern California’s biotech entrepreneurs with quality, affordable lab space. She has helped Lab Launch grow from a single facility with 3 members to an organization serving 4 locations with over 25 members.
While at Lab Launch, Marie recruited 12 organizations to form the Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Coalition, a group of LA-area non-profits, industry organizations, and research institutions that are working to educate academic scientists in entrepreneurship. In 2017, she was the recipient of the prestigious Biocom Catalyst Award, given to those who have made significant contributions to the Los Angeles life sciences industry before age 40.
