Step into the world of cutting-edge biomedical research and uncover how the human microbiome influences health and disease. Students will culture human cells, explore microbial ecosystems, and use microfluidic devices to simulate how the gut environment interacts with colon cancer cells. Students will be introduced to bioinformatics and data analysis, connecting molecular biology to real-world medical research.
This program is ideal for university students who want to dive into the world of research and gain meaningful experience they can take back to their university. It offers the skills and confidence needed to join research labs and pursue future work in biotechnology, bioinformatics, or translational medicine.
We welcome community college students who are preparing to transfer into four-year universities or seeking to strengthen their applications for internships, research programs, or careers in the life sciences.
By the end of the program, participants will have gained practical laboratory experience, cross-disciplinary insight, and a deeper understanding of how microbiome science is shaping the future of health and biotechnology.
