BioInnovators is not a traditional course, but an immersive research experience that mirrors real-world scientific careers. You’ll design your own project, manage your own schedule, lead your experiments, and work directly with industry professionals to take your research to publication or competition.

Cell Culture Bootcamp: August 25 - 27 | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Mondays & Thursdays: September 8 - December 11 | 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Mandatory attendance for parents/guardians on September 8
No class the week of October 13 and the week of November 24
No experiments after November 20. From November 20 - December 11, students will focus on creating and writing their research presentations.
Complete your application by submitting a personal statement and resume.
The ULP Team will review your application.
Selected applicants will be invited to complete a knowledge assessment.
Develop your research project.
All students are considered for need-based scholarships at the time of application. There is no additional application. ULP will notify scholarship recipients at the time of acceptance.
The tuition is $2,200 (includes all laboratory materials).

Unlike previous classes, we do not have rolling acceptances for this course. Deadline for applications is August 28, 2025, acceptances will be sent by September 1, 2025, and payment will be required by September 5, 2025.

Option to enter and compete in the IUSD Science Fair (IUSD students only)
Option to enter and compete in the OCSEF Science Fair
Opportunity to submit a paper to a high school research journal following additional course work
Students must have completed the following courses.
Molecular Biology 1
Summer Research Experience or Cancer Research
Students must be able to complete the Cell Culturing Bootcamp from August 25 - 27th.
50 hours of laboratory and mentor time
$500 research project budget limit
Individual research projects only, no group projects
ULP is not responsible for sample management
Projects can only be conducted with: MDA-MB-231 (breast adenocarcinoma) OR Jurkat (T-cell lymphoblast) OR HMC3 (Microglia)
